Tuaran Vegy Market / Tuaran Pasar

09.02.2013 - Tuaran Town.  Sabah.  Tuaran Pasar is open 365 days but the very special day that most of the vegetables from Kundasang will be on every Saturday and Sunday is the major pasar tamu to explore.  Tuaran Sunday Market is the busiest.

Go as early as 6am in the morning is the best time to get what you want and fresh, not only that to get a decent parking around the market too.  For buyers, going early is always the winner, get the best out of everything.  If go to the market after 10am will be little too hot and most of the thing sold out.

Here you can get all kinds of vegy from kundasang higher land like big fat cabbage, lettuce, broccoli, cauliflower and many vegies from cooler weather.  besides the vegy market, there is a fish market and fruits market. and above at the market building the famous Wong's Tuaran Mee can be found located at 1st flr 1st unit.  Wong's homemade Tuaran Mee is one of the famous Tuaran Mee supplier that supplies to all over KK restaurant.   Next to fish market there is a suspension bridge that has been built for ages.
Don't miss the opportunity to visit Tuaran Vegy market specially on Sunday.

Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion, Penang

18.02.2011 @ Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion, Penang. " The Cheong Fatt Tze mansion, is a Grand Mansion conceived and constructed by a Grand Man; an eminent edifice which History calls Home; a peerless paradigm of the Paradigm Chinese Courtyard House – the Cheong Fatt Tze “Blue” Mansion has been perfectly poised for over a century on firm foundations of architectural, cultural and historic superlatives. Essentially an ‘heirloom with rooms’, today, the Mansion readily bequeaths its charms to visitors who are able to indulge in Exclusive Heritage Homestays; Guided Tours; and Tailored Functions on its premises. Reputedly the favourite home of the “Last Mandarin and First Capitalist of China”, the Mansion is undoubtedly the favourite home of George Town. " this is how it was described in the web of cheong fatt tze mansion.

For us, this place is not really a visitor friendly place as it has a time schedule for touring and needed to accumulate people to proceed the guided tours into the mansion. This is so not convenient for us as we need to wait for other people at the gate under the hot sun, and also if you are late and the tour has started, u need to come back on certain time. It is not allowed to take any pictures inside the house during the tour that was been told by the guard who selling the ticket at the gate and not only that, whoever not paying for the tour into the mansion, they are not allowed to have photo taken even just walking a little steps further around the house at the garden. However, I managed to snap some good angles from the gate with my zoom2 lens, and im so satisfy with the shots, we can't take any pictures inside the Mansion anway even with the tour, so i guess taking pictures just outside the mansion is good enough for people like us :) nevertheless, i love the blue color!

The Chocolate Boutique certainly my favourite place. Once u enter the house, the Courtesy of staff will greet you welcome to chocolate boutique. so many japanese tourists from one coach to another entering the house, so pack and all staff really well-train speaking Japanese fluently!! doing a serious business here!! Anyway, a friendly staff bring us around to each shelving for chocolate tasting, introducing their famous chocolates. After touring, we are free to go around and choose our chocolate, not to forget the famous Koon Kee Penang White Coffee....ah ha.....saying to us "NO photo inside".....that was before we buy anything, and after we bough something, they got nothing to say!.

Pinang Peranakan Mansion, Penang

17.02.2011 @ Pinang Peranakan Mansion. take a taxi on a hot & sunny day to Pinang Peranakan Mansion, entrance fee rm10 per person.

From the outside, it looks just like the rest of the heritage building that has tastefully restored and painted in green. but once entering the main hall, it changes the whole dimension. the whole building inside was so beautifying, the architecture, design, simple eye catching. The main hall is beautifully decorated with fresh pots of flowers and chinese red lantens, chinese craved wood in gold from living room to dinning room door to door, i can't wait to go closer and feel them, from the ground floor to the upper floor. From every wood craved was so delicate and fine. Thousand pieces of antiques, love the the crystals collection, they all expensively place in a special room and 2ndly the authentic and vintage look chinaware, all beautifully placed in the shelvings. not to forget the furnitures, oriental solid black or rose wood with mother of pearl design, how much i love them all, this house whole cost a million dollars, this is the evident of a rich Baba a century ago.

This place is truely not just a baba-nyonya museum, but it catches everyone's heart, and its a historical educational for all to observe and see how this place is preserved with their many customs, traditions and dedication to show everyone's and the world as this not only mark as a unique survived old house to the country but to continuously preserved other heritage buildings as well in Penang and keep this place alive as a sample to Penang generation to be proud with their heritage and it does exist not only can they see or read from the book, postcard or photographs but its real.

Kundasang War Memorial Park, Sabah

11.12.2007 @ Kundasang War
Memorial Park is like a fort on a hill, located immediately behind the row of shops.

Kundasang War Memorial Park was build by a New Zealander to remember the 2,428 Australian and British prisoners of war who died during World War 2 at Sandakan Camp, the 3 infamous forced death marches from Sandakan to Ranau " a walk to hell " and as tribute to the many local people who risked their lives to help the war prisoners. Only Six Australians survived to the horror. There were no English survivors.

The designed was by a local resident

architect. It has four interlocking but separate Gardens to represent the homelands of those

who died: an Australian Garden, a formal English Garden of roses, a Borneo Garden with wild flowers of Kinabalu and at the top level is the contemplation Garden with a reflection pool and pergola.

The park was beautified and restored on year 2005 during the 60th anniversary of the year

end World War 2. The garden was now replanted with roses namely The Dark Lady Rose, Father Hugo's Rose, Rose Ballerina, Eden Climber Roses, Constance Spry Rose, Distant

Drums, Powder Puff, Sexy Rexy, Rosa madame Gregoire Staechelin, Amaryllis Blooms. Kinabalu Park is Borneo botanical paradise. It is home to

about 1,200 species of orchids, 26 species of rhododendrons, 9 species of Nepenthes pitcher plants, so here at the park can also find some of the most interesting and famous ones such as the exceptionally rare Rothschild's Slipper Orchid ( Paphiopedilum

Rothschildianum ) is so coveted, it is also knowns as " Kinabalu Gold " and

the Lobelia Borneensis Orchids. Last but not least is my favourite which I found it extremely

rare and difficult to find the Magnolia. It produce a very strong

fragrance that capture your mind and soul. It is so hard to find nowaday. I was so amazed and

enjoyed myself with all the plants.
