Tangkuban Perahu National Park, Bandung. Indonesia.

TangkupanPerahu National Park is another cooling and fresh air live volcano mountain that you don't want to be missed if you ever visit Bandung on your first trip to this province.   It is the only crater in Indonesia that you can drive up to its very rim. Mount Tangkuban Perahu has a distinctive shape, and looks like an “overturned boat”. The huge crater is an astonishing view and you can walk around and explore this for around two hours.  This is an active volcano and the volcano erupted last year February 21, 2013.  Thanks God it only spew toxic gases and the whole park is still stand in one piece.

Getting there is very easy and accessible by any type of vehicles or you may take a Subang Colt via Lembang from Bandung’s minibus terminal in front of the train station to the park entrance of Tangkuban Perahu. The entry is 20,000IDR per person.

There are minibuses, which lead you to the top, which officially cost 10,000IDR per person.  You can simply take another type of public transport minibus for a few stops to reach the park in case you can't find the right minibuses going up to the park.

The mountain air is simply cooling and refreshing.  I remembered i was so excited to get there!! The first thing that i noticed when we were at the mountain peak, is that the smell of the sulphur was extremely strong.  Eventually we could see the live active volcano in front of our eyes and still actively spews out sulphuric smells, gases and steamed.  It was a very gloomy day with a very strong cool air and blizzard was blowing us like crazy!!! smelling of the sulphur is really not a pleasant one! we quickly grab a cup of coffee to warm us down.  However we did not walk down to the spring water.  It was such a rush tour around. Too bad.

This park is not spoiled by the smell of sulphur or the

There will be alot annoying peddlers following you behind, just ignored and firmly tell them you do not interested if you are not.  All the way walking down the hill, alot of vendors in a more appropriate selling.  All kinds of souvenirs can be found here.

Here are some useful tips for you when you're there!

Tips
•Not everyone can stand the smell of the sulfur fumes; handkerchiefs are suggested to cover your nose and mouth.
•Never walk into the crater without care, it’s better to hire trusted guide.
•Do not hesitate to resist Peddlers if you are not interested.
•Best bring a jacket/sweater to protect yourself from the cold temperature.
•Bring an umbrella to avoid sunburn or possible heavy downpours.
•Try to reach the crater as early as possible because around noon the mist starts to roll in through the trees.
•Do not hesitate to say ‘No’ to the vexing local guides who follow you around and ask for money at the end of the trip.

Garuda Wisnu Kencana ( GWK ), Bali

Wikipedia - Mandala Garuda Wisnu Kencana, or Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK), is a 240 hectares private cultural park on the Bukit Peninsula at the southern end of the island of Bali in Indonesia, 15 minutes from Ngurah Rai International Airport. Bukit is a limestone plateau with Uluwatu to the west and Nusa Dua to the east.
It is devoted to the Hindu god Vishnu, and his mount, Garuda, the mythical bird who is his companion.

Project progress

Currently, the statue of Vishnu is 23 metres (75.5 ft) high, although the original plan was for a 146-metre (479 ft) gold-plated Vishnu riding Garuda on top of an 11-storey entertainment complex. Garuda wing span will be 64 metres (210.0 ft) across.[1] When it's completed, it will be the largest statue in the world.[2] The idea was not without controversy, and religious authorities on the island complained that its massive size might disrupt the spiritual balance of the island, and that its commercial nature was inappropriate, but some groups agree with the project, because it will make new tourist attraction over barren land.

After dormant moment, in 2013 Nyoman Nuarta who has most of the GWK's land and PT Alam Sutera Realty Tbk (IDX:ASRI) made join cooperation, but there is no declare share portion available. PT Alam Sutera Realty Tbk will build some luxurius villas and apartments in the GWK area and as the compensation the company will disburse Rp150 billion ($14.4 million). Nuarta will spend from his own pocket another Rp20 billion to make another bust, because the existing bust will move to other site 300 meters from the original site and Rp29 billion to make new design of stainless stell frameworks of the statue instead of using galvanized stell in the previous design. It is predicted that the project will be finished in early 2015.

Entrance to GWK and behind is Jendela Bali Panoramaic Resto

( this is not my photo and below photos posted just for your temporary viewing as they are not mine. my copy is not with me now! I feel so sorry to copy someone's pic for my short usage. I will upload mine as soon as i got my copy!!

Wikipedia - Pura Luhur Uluwatu is a Balinese sea temple in Bali. Built in the 11th century, it is one of nine directional temples meant to protect Bali from evil spirits.[1] It is located in Pecatu village, Kuta South District of Badung Regency of Bali.

It was sunset when we arrived.  Get ourself ticket, pay entrance fee and given a yellow cloth to pun on our waistline, we good to go straight to the cliff.  What a stunning view!! Open sea, breathtaking view and splendid sunset just at the right time.

But there were so many monkeys around like stalking us, so we don't dare to walk further as is getting darker and the whole place is hard to view.  We have been warned about the cheeky monkey here are more than mischievous! Keeping a tight hold onto your bag or backpack is highly recommended or just leave it on your vehicle and hold your camera tightly.

After witnessed the beautiful sunset, we could see the beautiful culture dance from where we stood.  so we tried to approached and see if we are lucky to join the rest.  But unfortunately we are not allow to see the cultural dance because we didn't arrange earlier, and without being permitted inside the temples and/or without a guide...
